CATS Canterbury International Boarding School has appointed a new principal.

Dr Sarah Lockyer joins from Gosfield School in Essex as the current vice chair of the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and replaces acting principal James Slocombe, who has returned to his role as vice principal.

She is also a board member of the Boarding Schools Association and an inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

CATS Canterbury said Lockyer has extensive experience of both A levels and the International Baccalaureate and a strong belief in the opportunities that they offer to international students.

Speaking about her new role, Lockyer said: “I’m looking forward to working with the team – both staff and students – to continue to foster a first class international boarding school environment that creates citizens of the world who are well prepared for university life.”

Stuart White, managing director of CATS Schools at Cambridge Education Group, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Sarah to the team. She brings with her a wealth of boarding school experience, dedication to academic excellence and a focus on student and teacher development.”
