The regional finals for the Young Enterprise Public Speaking Competition were held at CATS College Canterbury on 1 February 2011. The event was attended by speakers from a number of schools in the area.

Ksenia (left)CATS College won the competition with Ksenia Volkova’s talk on the highly emotive question, ‘Is the recent BP oil disaster another example of why we must migrate our fuel dependency into renewable resources?’

As winner of the regional competition, Ksenia (standing to the left in the photo) will now go on to represent CATS College Canterbury in the Kent County Final later this month.

It was an exciting evening at the College, with students welcoming guests from other colleges and from industry. Young Enterprise is very popular at CATS College, and all students have the opportunity to work with local companies and have a mock interview to help introduce them to the world of business. A large number of CATS College students have worked with top local industrialists to develop skills in the world of business.
