Business students from CATS College Canterbury had the rare opportunity to visit the London Metal Exchange last week – the oldest open-cry trading floor in the world.
Students watched Traders perform in one of the world’s leading financial centres, met a Markets Reporter from the Financial Times and top London brokers to ask about the routes they took to achieving career success and the pressures and rewards of these careers.
This was followed by a trip to the Bank of England, one of the world's oldest central banks, where along with top London brokers they enhanced their knowledge of Economics and the City of London.
CATS College students won the Young Enterprise Regional Final, and have been actively involved in Young Enterprise Projects, running their own companies and working with local business leaders in the heart of England. All students starting in the College in September were interviewed by top local Business Leaders as part of the CATS Leadership Award, and have had the chance to take part in Leadership seminars with the University of the First Age and The National College for School Leadership – the organisation that trains top British leaders in schools and colleges.
Principal, Jonathan Ullmer said, "We believe strongly in developing all our students and preparing them to take positions of responsibility after their studies. We have excellent Business and Economics staff who produce some truly outstanding students."
