satact (9 of 11)Pupils from St David’s College Llandudno have been giving up their Saturday mornings to help in the community. Whilst the rest of their school friends enjoy the extensive Saturday morning activities on offer at the college, 5 pupils from Yr 11 are volunteering in Llandudno charity shops. “It’s a great way to feel more involved in the town and meet people that we never have the chance to talk to isatact (8 of 11)n a normal school day” said Mitzi Tilston who has been working in the British Heart Foundation shop. “I do miss 4×4 driving and flying scale models off the Orme” said Harvey Waltham “but working at the British Heart Foundation gives me a different sense of achievement. “

Hannah Czakan who has been working in the Tenovus shop noted that her time manning the till is also great work experience. “I really like the responsibility of being on the front line of the shop but I’m not too worried as my manager is always there with me!”  The scheme also allows the pupils a chance for reflection, Roy Enyiagu who is also in the British Heart Foundation observed, “Because I board in school, my life can become a bit of a bubble but working the shop allows me to stay in touch with the real issues some people are facing today”.
