Girls from The Cheltenham Ladies’ College gave a memorable performance at one of the country’s holiest sites.Cheltenham Ladies College St Pauls cathedral

The choir travelled to St Paul’s Cathedral on Monday to sing a lunchtime recital and Evensong.

Head of Vocal Studies Stephen Parham-Connolly and Director of Music Dominic Hawley composed pieces for the occasion.

The performance featured the Magnficat and Nunc Dimittis, with Geoffrey Burgon’s setting of the Nunc Dimittis and an extraordinary setting of the Magnificat by Mr Parham-Connolly.

The singers also performed Mr Hawley’s anthem Dios te salve, Maria, which was written in preparation for the College Choir's tour of Spain.

Mr Parham-Connolly said: “Hearing the choir sing so brilliantly at St Paul’s was very special and I am delighted by the way they performed.

“We are used to hearing our girls set such high vocal standards, but to hear it at such a wonderful venue was a pleasure.

“The College community and the girls will rightly be proud of the whole event.”

Following Evensong, College hosted a drinks reception at The Goldsmiths’ Hall, in aid of the bursaries fund.
