Luckley House School hosted its first ever Christmas Market on Thursday.
The event was organised as part of the school’s raft of centenary celebrations and successfully brought together the school community with its neighbours.
Hundreds of pupils and families braved the tail end of Storm Diane to kick off this year’s festive season at the atmospheric event. The school grounds were transformed into a Continental market, around a central Christmas tree, with local traders selling presents and stocking fillers.
While parents stocked up on gifts, youngsters were kept occupied with a festive photobooth and a surprise visit from Santa, who happily posed for selfies! Throughout the evening, the Christmas spirit was kept alive with performances by the school’s choir, band and solo performances.
Sarah Humphreys, Centenary Co-Ordinator, said: “It was a wonderful evening full of Christmas cheer! Having worried about whether the event would suffer because of the torrential rain and high winds, the weather then cleared and people came out in droves to enjoy the Market experience.
“The evening not only brought together the school’s family of pupils, parents and staff but also reinforced our place in the local community as we welcomed our neighbours from Evendons Primary School and surrounding roads.”
