Cobham Hall girls were thrilled to welcome American singer-songwriter Alexander Star and DJ AXR The Alchemist to the School for an afternoon of entertainment and education.
The pair are brand ambassadors for AFR Clothing, a charitable company aiming to raise funds and awareness for getting more children into education in Africa. They spent time running a song-writing workshop for some of our GCSE and IB Music students before performing for the wider school community. With messages about respecting women and making a positive change in the world, interspersed with popular hits, the Gilt Hall was alive with positivity, good vibes, and excitement.
AFR Clothing advocates acting now to make a change, defining NOW as ‘No Opportunity Wasted’. Our girls certainly took the opportunity to enjoy the music, and many purchased clothing afterwards to support the purpose of the event. Speaking afterwards, School Guardian Tilly Green, 18, who was involved in the song-writing workshop commented, “It was an amazing opportunity to work with such effervescent, motivated and encouraging individuals. Learning from them has inspired me to be more motivated in my studies and to have a more positive outlook on what I have.”
