antiqies open day loretto housePinkie House, part of Loretto School in Musselburgh, will throw open its doors to the public on Sunday, 14th July from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to coincide with the Bonhams Valuation and Appraisal Day to be held in the grounds of the school.

Over the years, Musselburgh's historic Pinkie House has been a home to the young Prince Charles (later King Charles I), used as a field hospital by the Jacobite Army, a place of refuge by Bonnie Prince Charlie, houses the longest and oldest painted ceiling in Scotland and 2013 marks its 400th anniversary.

Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto School, said, "For those who are coming along to our rather special Bonhams Appraisal and Valuation Day on 14th July, there will be a wonderful opportunity to view the splendid Painted Gallery and this 17th century villa’s incredibly rich Renaissance architecture. We will have a guide on hand to give a little of the history and we will be launching a new guide of the history of Pinkie House's Painted Gallery. Both visiting the Painted Gallery and the new guide book will be free."

It is time to ransack the attic and dig out those family heirlooms! Running along the same lines as the popular BBC1 Sunday evening television show, 'Antiques Roadshow', some of Britain’s leading antiques and fine arts specialists from Bonhams in Edinburgh will be on hand to offer advice and valuations to visitors.

All are welcome to bring along their precious objects, household treasures and car boot bargains for inspection by the experts.

Appointments with experts and specialists from the worlds of Pictures, European Ceramics and Glass, Furniture and Works of Art, Asian Works of Art, Jewellery and Silver must be booked in advance by emailing events@loretto.com<mailto:events@loretto.com> or telephoning 0131 653 4473/4413.
