Taunton School pupils celebrate their results

Taunton School pupils from years nine to 13 have achieved above the national average at the UK Bebras Challenge for Computational Thinking.

Pupils took part in the international competition and tackled a series of challenging yet fun computer science problems, which demonstrated their logic and reasoning skills.

The three highest scores in their age category were achieved by Charlie Shave (year 9), David Kacs (year 12) and Kit Lloyd (year 10), earning them the title ‘Best in School’.

Eight students were in the top 10% nationally and have been invited to enter a follow-on competition run by Oxford University in March 2018.

Kirsty Rogers, teacher of computer science and ICT at Taunton School, said: “We are delighted that our students performed fantastically well, achieving over the national average with their results. Out of 99 students who entered the competition, 28 received merits and a further 27 received distinctions.”
