Crawfurd’s Rumble in the Jungle

9220-535794Last Friday it was the turn of the girls in Crawfurd House to delight an audience of over 110 parents and guests in Big School with an extensive programme of entertainment in their annual soirée.

The theme – Rumble in the Jungle – involved an array of colourful and inventive animal costumes and a variety of acts to celebrate the many talents of the Crawfurd girls.

Guests arrived to the accompaniment of a piano medley by Wendy Zhang before the fun began.

Highlights included an A capella performance of Stand By Me by the U4 girls, dance routines by the M4s, 5th form and L6th and a Tumble in the Jungle gymnastics display by 5th former Addie Kitson. U4s Polly Murray, Poppy Parker and Lally Cole accompanied themselves on guitar as they sang Payphone by Maroon 5.

There were also a number of solo performances, including Evelyn Chan, who sang My Heart Will Go On by Céline Dion, Narmin Aligulova with her rendition of Weight in Gold by Gallant, Flora Chalmers singing Skinny Love by Birdy and Shannon Choi who who performed Chopin’s Nocturne on the piano.

During the evening, guests enjoyed a three-course meal and a raffle, with prizes donated by parents and businesses in Epsom, including Stuart John Hairdressers and Café Piccolo, raised over £500 for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The evening ended with a rousing rendition of the House unison – ABC by the Jackson 5.
