Culford Sixth Form pupils have been preparing for life after school with a series of events covering all aspects of higher education.

The trio of events began last week with a conference held at Culford School that featured guest speakers from Anglia Ruskin University, the Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts and educational volunteering charity, Project Trust. Pupils were then given the opportunity to visit the UEA campus in Norwich.

The one day conference enabled pupils to consider Why go to University?, Choosing the right subject and What about a GAP year?

Practical sessions covering money management, how to become a domestic god/goddess and looking ahead to graduate recruitment were also included, before pupils headed to UEA to experience first-hand what life on campus is like.

Pupils are continuing their preparation this week with a visit to Cambridge for Anglia Ruskin University’s UCAS conference and a further practical seminar introducing UCAS personal statements and how to write them.

Culford’s Head of Economics and Business Studies, Dominic Tomalin, put together the ‘Life After Culford’ series of events: “The events are aimed at helping our pupils make well informed choices about their next steps” he says.

“By providing the best information about what options are available, we are able to support each of our lower sixth form pupils in identifying and making a competitive application for a place on the best course, at the best university for each of them as an individual.”
