Has Santa lost his reindeer?

If you happened to be driving or walking somewhere between Southwater and Brighton on Sunday morning, 9th December, you might have been very surprised to see ten Santas on bikes!
Farlington Girls Cycle to fundraise
Eight girls, who are going to Zambia this summer saddled up, dressed up, attached beards and pedalled all the way to Brighton Pier from Southwater Country Park, accompanied by staff members John Dwyer and Jane Williams.

Their ride was part of their efforts to raise funds for their amazing summer trip to Zambia.

The girls will be spending two weeks doing voluntary work organised by the company True Adventure. They see this as an amazing opportunity to help others less fortunate than themselves whilst at the same time experiencing a completely different culture and getting to experience the sights of Africa.

Cycling Santas raise funds for FarlingtonThe girls will be teaching English to pupils in a school, painting classrooms and building desks. In order to fund the trip each girl needs to raise £2500.

There have already been many fundraising activities, and this latest initiative was in keeping with the festive season!

The girls were fantastic, singing most of the way; Mr Dwyer dealt with four punctures, a wobbly bike seat and a bent chain; Ms Williams simply struggled to keep up!
