King Edwards Witley photThe renowned mezzo-soprano opera singer, Dame Ann Murray is to perform in a concert at King Edward’s Witley, in aid of the Samson Centre for MS on 23rd June 2016.

Dame Ann Murray – who as one of the great opera singers of the past few decades has a long and distinguished career which has seen her perform at the most famous opera houses in the world – will be joined by acclaimed concert pianist Timothy Ardern and flautist Susannah Walsh.  The concert will also include singing performances from talented pupils at King Edward’s Witley, and at Dame Ann’s suggestion, ballerinas (including two from partner school Barrow Hills) will dance during two of the songs chosen for the recital.

Dame Ann’s involvement came about as a result of the opera singer’s friendship with a Samson Centre volunteer, whose son is severely affected by MS.  This fund-raising event provides an opportunity for Dame Ann to not only entertain but also to lend her personal support to a local charity dedicated to offering practical and emotional support to people in Surrey and surrounding areas who are facing the daily challenges of living with multiple sclerosis.

The concert takes place in the Charter Hall at King Edward’s Witley, Godalming at 7.30 pm and will provide a rare opportunity to witness the exceptional talent of an international opera superstar. Tickets are available from the Guildford Tourist Information Centre at www.visitguildford.com 01483 444334, priced £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for students.
