Multi-award-winning stand-up comedian and writer David O’Doherty visited Malvern St James Girls’ School last week (Tuesday, 4th October) to entertain pupils from local schools with tales from his new book, Danger Really is Everywhere: School of Danger.

IMG_2016Pupils from Malvern St James (Years 5 and 6), Malvern Parish C of E Primary School (Years 4, 5 and 6), Malvern Wells C of E Primary School (Years 5 and 6) and Pitmaston Primary School (Years 4 and 5) enjoyed a lively afternoon listening to David talk about all things dangerous – from making toast to walking in the park. He also told everyone about the dangers that his central character, Docter Noel Zone, encounters on a daily basis on his mission to find out whether any of the staff at the school he works at are vampires or robots.

“David was so funny and made everyone laugh. I really want to read one of his books. He made the book come to life”, said 11 year old Malvern St James pupil Hope Medcroft.

David is keen for children to enjoy his stories and every child who attended the event received a free sampler for his new book.

David commented, “I was really struck by the enthusiasm of the staff from the library and school, plus they weren’t vampires. Also I didn’t meet any ghosts. Woo hoo!”

David is a regular guest on television shows such as QI, Have I Got News for You and Would I Lie to You? He has also written two theatre shows for children.
