Dauntsey’s School has announced an impressive line-up of speakers for the 2014/15 programme of its renowned Mercers’ Lecture series.  This season, pupils and members of the local community will be enlightened and entertained by a range of speakers including politicians, authors and business leaders.  Particular highlights include:

  • John Redwood, politician
  • Baroness Williams, politician
  • Jonathan Dimbleby, broadcaster
  • Keith Williams, CEO British Airways
  • David Nussbaum, CEO World Wildlife Fund

James Spencer, Master in Charge of Mercers’ Lectures said:

“We have an enviable list of speakers this year, at a time when the United Kingdom faces highly complex political and economic challenges, not least with the implications of the constitutional changes following the result of the Scottish vote for independence.

“The Mercers’ lectures provide Dauntsey’s pupils and people local to the school with a great opportunity to listen – and contribute – to insights from some of our leading business and political leaders.  We look forward to welcoming people to the School for some lively discussions.”

The Mercers’ Lectures are named in recognition of the links between Dauntsey’s and the Mercers’ Company, which go back to Mercer founder Alderman William Dauntsey, Master of the Worshipful Company of Mercers, who founded the School in West Lavington in 1542.

All lectures are open to the public and are held in the Memorial Hall at Dauntsey’s School, commencing at 7.30pm.  Entry is free, but please contact the School if you wish to attend, either by sending an email to info@dauntseys.org or by telephone on 01380 814500.
