Dauntsey's Lord Of The Flies PosterDauntsey’s School has announced it will stage a production of Matthew Bourne’s dance production, `Lord of the Flies`, based on the novel by William Golding, with music by Terry Davies.  This has been made possible by special arrangement with Re:Bourne & New Adventures.

This amazing show, featuring only boy dancers, will be adapted from the original 2014 production by Matthew Bourne and Scott Ambler.  Dauntsey’s will work closely with the original production’s Resident Director, Adam Galbraith, from now until late June to stage this ground-breaking production.

In Matthew Bourne’s adaptation of this classic novel, the story moves from a deserted island to an abandoned theatre. A group of schoolboys find themselves locked in a theatre as civil war rages outside. With no adults present, they start to make their own rules and create their own civilisation, before all sense of order breaks down, leading to a terrifying conclusion.

Rikki Jackson, Director of Drama, Dauntsey’s School, said:  “We are delighted to have been granted this unique opportunity by Matthew Bourne and his company.  We have already selected the cast and the boys are working hard to master the challenging dance moves, in between their academic and sporting commitments.”

James Mackenzie-Blackman, Executive Director for Re:Bourne, the charitable arm of New Adventures, said: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Dauntsey’s School on this ground-breaking collaboration.  Dauntsey’s is renowned for its exceptional re-stagings of well-known works and we are all looking forward to seeing what the boys produce.”

The production of `Lord of the Flies` will form the centerpiece of Dauntsey’s inaugural Summer Festival which will be held from 29th June until 3rd July at the School.  The Festival will be a celebration of art, music, drama, sport and scholarship from across the School.  There will be more than 30 events, ranging from jazz to classical music, dance to plays and lectures and recitals.

All events are free but tickets are required for most performances.  To book your tickets please use the link below to access the online booking form on the School intranet.
