At the end of an extremely busy week in Parliament, David Warburton MP for Frome and Somerton, gave a talk to pupils at All Hallows School.

Pupils had written to him as part of a lesson in letter writing and explored different issues that they felt were relevant locally.

Two letters on littering drew particular interest to Mr Warburton addressing concerns on the environment, danger to wildlife both on land and in the sea, as well as increasing fines for perpetrators and charges for plastic bag use.

Another pupil drew Mr Warburton’s attention to the lack of respite care in Somerset, which was of personal concern as her sister has Dravet syndrome and needs respite care nearer to home.

Mr Warburton wrote back to all of the children and then came to see them personally and to chat further on issues raised. It was a great thrill for the children to meet their local MP, especially when politics is dominating the news at the moment.
