Dollar Academy Pipe Band crowned Juvenile World Champions

Dollar Academy’s Juvenile Band have retained the title of Juvenile World Champions after winning the category at the RSPBA World Championships.

The school’s Novice Juvenile A band also took part in the competition, finishing fourth in their category.

The strong performances at Glasgow Green, and throughout the season, resulted in both Bands winning the Champion of Champions accolade in their respective grades for the season.

The season began on 18 May with the British Championships in Paisley. Despite the weather, both bands did exceptionally well: first place for Juvenile and third place for Novice Juvenile A.

The UK Championships was next, taking place in Lurgan, on 15 June. Both bands placed first in their respective categories. Pupils were not only congratulated on their excellent piping and drumming, but also on their behaviour – they were a credit to the school throughout the trip.On 29 June, the bands travelled to Inverness for the European Championships. Successful once again, the Juvenile Band finished in first place, with the Novice Juvenile A Band placing third.In the penultimate competition on 27 July, the bands competed in the Scottish Championships in Dumbarton. Both bands placed first in their respective categories and moved to the final stage of the season.
