Dollar Academy Publishing SuccessDollar Academy are celebrating after a weekend of success, with pupils scooping the top award in the 2011 Scottish School Magazine Competition. The winning team were presented the Gold Award in the Scottish School Magazine of the Year category by BBC Radio Scotland personality John Beattie at an award ceremony in Edinburgh on June 17th.

Their winning title, 'The Galley' is a twice yearly publication, written for pupils in the school. The 44 page colour print contains editorial, school news, photography and artwork entirely produced by the pupil news team.

Mr David Knapman, Rector at Dollar Academy commented: "We are incredibly proud of our pupils for winning such a prestigious award. The dedication they have shown in producing this high quality magazine has been quite remarkable and I congratulate them, on behalf of the entire school, for this outstanding achievement."

The winning magazine will be professionally printed by Acorn Web Offset and the school will be invited to join industry leaders at the Scottish Magazine Awards on November 30 as guests of PPA Scotland.
