Olympic selection from Dollar Academy

Dollar Academy Former Pupil Jen McIntosh has been selected to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games.

The 20 year old day pupil, left school after completing her education in FVI to become a full time athlete. She was named today in the GB team announcement, selected for Air Rifle and 3P.

Jen was celebrated as Scotland’s most successful athlete of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, winning a total of two gold medals and a bronze for her country, and is the most recent in a long line of internationalists who have emerged from the leading independent school.

Commenting on her achievement, Craig Stewart, CCF Contingent Commander at Dollar Academy, said: “We are exceptionally proud of Jen’s achievement. Her selection for the Olympic Games is a testament to her hard work and dedication, and we know that she will continue to provide inspiration to the next generation of aspiring athletes at the school. ”

Mr David Knapman, Rector at Dollar Academy, commented: “The whole school will be cheering for Jen this summer. We are delighted with her achievements so far and we wish her every success at the Olympics. ”

Dollar Academy has a reputation as one of the best shooting schools in the UK and is well-equipped with an indoor range on campus and high quality training provided. Shooting is a very popular sport amongst Dollar pupils , who compete in national competitions and are current holders of the CCRS Country Life Cup, the Strathcona Shield and regularly feature on the prize list on Ashburton Day at Bisley.
