Dollar Academy Hockey Sevens WinnersDollar Academy 1st VII were delighted to win the Carita’s Hockey Sevens on Tuesday 20th March.

There were a total of twelve teams competing in the national schools tournament. Dollar won their section against Currie High School and Peebles High School which saw them through to the semi’s where they played Heriots, winning 2-1, before meeting current Scottish Schools Champions George Watson’s in the final, winning 1-0 in penalty strokes.

Miss Lynsey Allan, PE Teacher at Dollar Academy, 1st VII coach and former International Hockey player, commented: “Our girls demonstrated fantastic team spirit and defensive work throughout the entire tournament with Esme Pringle outstanding in goal and making several crucial saves.

“ I am so proud of their performance and their efforts throughout the whole season. This is the first time since the tournament was established in 1992 that Dollar Academy have been the winner of the Carita’s sevens – we are delighted with this result.”
