Dollar Academy and the Rugby World Cup

Scotland coach Andy Robinson’s announcement of the Scotland world cup squad has confirmed Dollar Academy old boys in the final line up, with John Barclay, Graeme Morrison and Rory Lawson. All are former pupils of Dollar Academy.

The team was unveiled at the National Museum of Scotland on Tuesday 23rd August, and three current Dollar Academy pupils were there to meet their idols and wish them luck for the forthcoming tournament in New Zealand.

The Rugby World Cup tournament begins in Auckland on 10th September with the Scotland team facing Romania in the first of their pool B matches. The side have drawn a tough group, however are looking to reaching the knock-out stages as they have done in every World Cup to date.

Rugby is a strong sport at Dollar Academy, with opportunities for pupils to compete at every level and a reputation for producing internationalists. As part of a continued commitment to provide the best possible training to pupils of all abilities, the Dollar Academy PE department has just welcomed ex Edinburgh Rugby professional coach Rob Moffat as a new teacher and has also unveiled a new onsite sports physio service for pupils.
