Once again, Loretto School in Edinburgh has received a superb write up in the newly released prestigious Tatler’s Schools Guide, which describes itself as ‘full of indispensable, insider knowledge on the best of the independent school scene.’ The guide’s introduction states, ‘This is our pick of the finest private schools in the country…We cut through the platitudes of prospectus-speak to give you a clear picture of each school’s strengths…we rewrite each review every year, providing a fresh take on what’s what and who’s who.’ The introduction concludes, ‘We can’t make the decision for you, but Tatler’s Schools Guide makes it a whole lot easier.’

This year’s guide comprises of a small number of the finest and most impressive independent schools throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The write up provides a succinct and lively profile of Loretto, beginning ‘The School has always had something of an edge’’. The article goes on to explain Loretto’s unique link-up with Edinburgh Napier University, excellent examination results and unrivalled sporting achievements in the world-renowned Golf Academy and also on the Rugby, Hockey, Lacrosse and Cricket pitches.

Tatler's review leaves no stone unturned. 'Musically, the school shines, helped by its partnership with piano makers Steinway & Sons.

The legendary Loretto Pipe Band receives a mention as having 'played for the Pope and Paul McCartney'.

Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto, added, 'We are delighted with our entry in the Tatler's School Guide 2013. For me, one of the most pertinent lines in the review was their description of Loretto as being 'all about mind, body and spirit'. These are the touchstones of a Loretto education. All credit must go to the staff who give their heart and soul to the school and the pupils themselves, who help make Loretto such a joy to work at.'
