The CCF Inspection was held on May 7th with Inspecting Officer Colonel Simon Diggins OBE (Cantab) kindly giving Downside School CCF Inspectionhis time to come to Downside School.

Colonel Diggins spent the day inspecting various CCF activities.

The Third Form spent the day at Vobster Quay learning how to canoe, kayak, dive and archery skills. The 4th Form were based in and around the CCF HQ at school, weapon cleaning from a previous night exercise, DofE preparation (erecting tents, map reading and navigation) and command tasks.

The L6th conducted section attacks in full camouflage around the school grounds.

The Parade took place in the early evening with Quarter Guard and Colour Party formed from both Lower and Upper 6th. The Junior Under Officer on parade was Colonel Diggins' son Ranulph, currently in the U6th and heading to Cambridge after his ALevels.

Beating Retreat followed with the Pipe Band and CCF Band making a colourful and very musical sight in the Quad. It also marked Mr Ralph Kerr's last Parade as he leaves Downside to take up the Post of Director of Music at Clayesmore in September.

The CCF would like to thank him for everything he has done for the CCF during his time at Downside.
