The Amadeus Singers joined Downside School's Schola Cantorum and the Festival Orchestra for an evening of Downside School Coronation Music and Concertos.

The Coronation music was selected from Elizabeth II's coronation service and intended to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of that historic event.

The music chosen included Handel's Zadok the Priest, I was Glad by Parry and the Coronation Te Deum by Walton.

There were individual performances too including Mildred Maybury playing the first movement of the violin Concerto in A minor by JS Bach.

Peter Welinkar played the second movement from the violin concerto no 4 in D Major by Mozart and Rory Moules played the second movement from the piano concerto in A Minor by Edvard Grieg.

The concertos were part of a competition and there were two categories.

Senior Class was won by Noemi Zehetbauer who had the audience spellbound with her performance of the first movement of Elgar's cello concerto in E Minor.

Junior Class was won by Kathryn Brittain who played the violin concerto in F minor, Winter, by Vivaldi.
The Retiring Collection raised over £600 for the musical instruments fund, thank you to everyone who was able to attend.
