Two budding artists from Ellesmere College have had their work selected for the Living Edge Schools Arts 
Competition.
This year’s finals held at the Hexagon Suite of the Lowry Arts Centre in Manchester has seen a record turnout with each age category possessing the maximum 17 pieces of artwork, competing for the top two honours.
Olivia Fisher, 17 and Freddie Houlder, 16 who will compete in their respective age categories are the only two pupils selected to represent the County in the North West Competition, which will see their work being displayed amongst the highest quality Schools and Colleges in the region.
Their art work will be judged by a panel of 10 judges made up from practicing artists and art dealers.
Olivia Fisher said “I am so pleased that my art work has been chosen for the final and that my portrait of my grandma was selected.
The theme for this competition was ‘family’ and the focus of my portrait was a cut back to show emotion. It’s nice to be in the final but to also have my work on display in the Lowry is really exciting”
Siobhan Phillips, Head of Art said “I am extremely proud of Olivia and Freddie, they are both natural artists and have worked extremely hard to get into the finals. We try and encourage as many pupils as possible to enter such awards, as they can learn such a lot from these experiences ”
