EmmaAmbitious Emma Mulvihill will attend Bucking Palace in May to receive the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, which she achieved at just 17 years of age.

When Emma embarked on her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award at 13, never did she imagine that she would be attending Buckingham Palace before she left school.  Emma, a Year 13 pupil at St David’s College, has achieved what many only hope for when considerably older.

Thanks to the Outdoor Education Programme at St David’s College, Emma was enabled to progress through Bronze and Silver to Gold in just 4 years.  She had the opportunity, through the skills she had developed in school, to do her expedition on a Sailing Boat and by attending an Easter Experience at Bird College, where she has just been accepted on to the foundation course in Musical Theatre.  Emma achieved all of this whilst working towards her A levels and performing in a whole host of local music and dance shows.

“The skills you develop on the award scheme help you achieve your goals and make you work outside your comfort zone it is also something I never thought I would get to do.  I am really proud and enjoyed the experience so much” said Emma.
