On Monday this week, a large number of parents, friends and Old Epsomians heard Chapel Choir sing Epsom College choir St Pauls CathedralEvensong at the iconic St Paul's Cathedral.

The evening's music was chosen to suit the acoustics of St Paul's and its organ. It included Evensong canticles by Thomas Walmisley and the anthem, The Spirit of the Lord, by Elgar, reflecting the season when the church celebrates the baptism of Christ.

Prior to the service, some 60 members of the College community, including Headmaster Jay Piggot, gathered for afternoon tea hosted by The Education Trust in The Restaurant in the crypt.

In recent years, Chapel Choir has performed in many of the country's leading cathedrals including Westminster Abbey, Canterbury, St Albans, Southwark and Portsmouth.

This is proving a busy term for the Music Department with a trip this week to La Bohème at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, a major concert later this month by the Choral Society and Chapel Choir, and the school opera, The Beggar's Opera, scheduled to take place in March as part of its packed music calendar.
