A cheque for £1,850 was presented on Tuesday to Make-A-Wish Foundation UK following the fundraising efforts of Epsom College Charity benefitsenior girls, who went on on last year's netball and hockey tour.

Prior to the summer tour to Singapore and Australia, the teams threw themselves into raising funds and allocated a percentage of what they raised to charities selected by the girls themselves.

For the third year running they chose the charity Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, which grants magical wishes to children and young people aged 3-17 fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Having learnt more about the work of the charity, the girls were delighted to offer their support again this year.

Keven Baughen, a local volunteer with the charity, visited the College to collect the cheque and spoke to netball captain Hannah King, hockey captain Eliza Melville and members of the touring staff about the work of the Foundation.

In February, a cheque from the tour fund for £1,250 was presented to local charity Cherry Trees, which provides home from home respite care for children and young people with severe learning and physical disabilities.

Eliza Melville visited the charity based in the village of East Clandon, near Guildford, to hand over the cheque to fundraiser Jan Eastaff and had a tour of the facilities, which cater for children of 5-19 years of age from all over Surrey.
