St Leonards GCSE resultsPupils at St Leonards found that everything was A-okay when they received their GCSE exam results!
There were top grades galore amongst the marks for the Year 11 (S4) students who sat the tests back in May.
57.5% of the entries at the St Andrews school scored an A* or A, more than double the average rate for the UK of 22.6%.

In addition, more than a third (34.2%) of candidates gained 8 or more A*s/As and almost a quarter (23.7%) secured a clean sweep of all A*s/As.

Impressive performances right across the board ensured that 94.7% of the School’s candidates achieved five or more grades A*-C, well above the UK average of 69.1%.

Ed Fowler from St Andrews was understandably pleased with his haul of 4A*s and 5As.
He said, “I did a bit better in a couple of subjects than I thought I would.
“I’m going to enjoy it for a day then it’s back to school tomorrow!”

St Leonards School GCSE'sThere was double cause for celebration in the Collison-Owen household as twin sisters Grace and Olivia turned in a pair of outstanding sets of results.
Grace, who scored 9 A*s and 1A, said, “I’m really pleased as I didn’t expect to do quite that well.
“My whole family is delighted, especially my gran!”
Olivia, who gained 8 A*s and 2 As, said, “I’m very happy. It’s a wee bit of a surprise as my marks were better than I got in the mocks. I’m just going to try to enjoy today!”

The students will now be going on to study for the two year International Baccalaureate Diploma in the sixth form (S5 and S6) and Adam Harris from Crail, who achieved 3A*s, 5As and 2Bs, said, “I’m pleased I got good results. Hopefully this will stand me in good stead for the challenges of the IB.”
Another performance of some note came from Katie Overend who, at the age of 14 – two years younger than standard GCSE candidates – achieved the remarkable feat of scoring an A* in the Maths paper which she attempted.

The Headmaster of St Leonards, Dr Michael Carslaw, said, “I’m delighted for the pupils and their teachers that all of their hard work has been rewarded with such an excellent set of results.
“Performing so strongly in their GCSEs will give our students great confidence as they move into the sixth form and prepare to study for the globally recognised International Baccalaureate Diploma.”
