Farlington School has announced the creation of a new volleyball club led by one of Europe’s finest coaches.

The new club, backed by Horsham District Sports Development, is based at the school’s sports hall and is led by experienced coach Zbigniew Adamczyk, better known as ‘Ziggy’.

Farlington School said that its premises provide the perfect place to start the all-girls club and that Ziggy’s knowledge and experience of coaching in Europe and in his native Poland fostered the club’s ambition to put youth volleyball on the local map.

The classes involve the key skills necessary to play the sport including attacking, blocking and serving the ball and are open to players of all abilities.

Sara Whittaker, Farlington’s director of sport, said: “This is a fantastic initiative from Horsham Council’s Sports Team and we are delighted to provide our facilities. Getting girls involved in team sport has so many more benefits than just fitness: social skills, self-esteem, motivation and focus, to name just a few.”
