Intrepid Farlington Headmistress, Louise Higson, and Assistant Head, Mandy Higgs, proved they have a good head Farlington School absailfor heights when they abseiled 110 feet from the Sofitel Hotel at Gatwick on Saturday, 2nd March, to raise funds for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust.

Fundraising Director for the DVLT, Rosie Wyer, gave an inspirational assembly at the school last year about the work of the Trust which provides a specialist service for families of young children with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities at their school for parents in Five Oaks, mentioning the sponsored abseil during her talk.

Louise and Mandy took up the gauntlet and pledged to take part – sporting Farlington uniform! A supportive group of parents, staff and pupils watched as the plucky pair descended from the roof top.

“It was a fantastic experience – we were glad to be able to take part and are overwhelmed by the support we have received from the pupils, parents and staff at Farlington, in addition to our families and friends.”

So far, Louise and Mandy have raised over £1500 – but there is still time to donate via their Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/has-this-been-risk-assessed-Mandy or by cheque, made payable to the Dame Vera Lynn Trust.
