A Felsted Preparatory School pupil has been named the national runner-up in the UK School Memory Championship.

Felix Collins competed in the competition ran by the UK Memory Sports Council which involved students undergoing a series of online memory challenges, testing their learning skills against competitors from around the country.

Felsted pupils in Year 7 and 8 have been undertaking brain training sessions to develop powerful memory strategies. The training programme helps them to make links to a series of unconnected words and numbers which can then be applied to every area of their education.

Christina Bury, director of learning at Felsted Prep, said: “It has been fascinating to work with the children to help them to develop strategies to support their memory and it has been extraordinary to see how much information they can be trained to remember, which is central to success in all areas of the curriculum.”
