A pupil from Felsted School has raised over £15,000 in aid of the Sparkle Foundation.

Gustav Burton, 15, drives for Team Pyro in the Renault Clio Cup Junior Championships  and began the season in his specially designed ‘Sparkle Car’, donating 100% of the proceeds from sponsorship advertising to the organisation. The money will be used to build classrooms, toilets and an office at its orphanage in Malawi.

He said: “I feel confident I can make a serious bid for the Clio Cup Junior crown in 2018 – the category has really raised the bar in junior motor sport as the cars are the most technically advanced in the marketplace, plus there’s all the professionalism that Renault Sport is renowned for that comes with it. I see it as the best arena in which to develop as a young driver.”

Sarah Brook, a former Felsted pupil and CEO and founder of the Sparkle Foundation, commented: “Our vision for the charity is to reach more vulnerable children in Malawi and educate more community members so that our work can spread to those who need us most. To do this we need to improve our facilities and expand our current structures. Thanks to Gus and the generous support of his sponsors we’re sure we can make this dream a reality.”
