Felsted School has opened up its accommodation to NHS staff in Essex in an effort to help combat the coronavirus outbreak.

The School has offered this, along with access to its facilities, to enable urgent paramedic training for East England Ambulance staff during the crisis. As well as this, pupils of the school have sent Easter eggs and cards to NHS workers to keep spirits high. The inter-department effort comes in response to the severe pressure that NHS facilities are under at this time, but they are not alone.

Felsted School’s offer is the latest in a nation-wide effort to support the NHS and its staff. From Nottinghamshire to London, schools across the country are doing their bit for Britain by providing food, boarding facilities and equipment.

Mr Chris Townsend, Headmaster at Felsted School said: “We’re delighted that our staff have been so proactive in supporting the NHS during a period of national emergency. We wanted to do our bit for the cause, and have no doubt that other schools will be doing similar things if they can. We can only beat this is by working together.”

Julie Robinson, Chief Executive of the Independent Schools Council said: “This is an impressive example of how independent schools are helping do their bit to combat the problems we are currently facing due to the outbreak of coronavirus. It is heart-warming to see that schools have been taking practical steps to help our NHS up and down the country by offering their equipment, facilities and time to the cause.”
