Felsted School hosted the 33rd annual English Cricket Board U15 festival over the summer holidays.
Known as the David English Bunbury Festival, the school welcomed 56 of the best young cricket players across the country.
One of these talented young cricketers was Felsted sport scholar Harry Gallian, who is currently on the Essex Emerging Cricket Player Programme playing for Essex County Cricket Club U15s, Saffron Walden 1st XI and the Felsted 1st XI.
Harry was presented his London and South East U15 Cap from ‘Bunbarian’ and former England Captain Sir Alastair Cook, and after initially impressing at the festival, was then selected to play for the combined London & East/South & West team against the West Indies the following week.
Harry follows in some famous cricketing footsteps, with over 90 former Bunbury players going on to represent England, including 10 from the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup squad. This line-up also include a number of former Felstedians, including Derek Pringle, John Stephenson, Nick Knight and Will Buttleman, as well as 2019 leaver Jordan Cox who will be representing England U19s at next year’s World Cup.
Overseen by Felsted’s experienced Director of Cricket, Jason Gallian (ex-England, Essex & Notts) and Carla Rudd (current Super League player), Felsted offers both boys and girls a well established cricket programme at all levels, with scholarships for elite players from the age of 11. Felsted has seen a wealth of success over the past few years, including the girls’ 1st team winning the national U18 championship 2019 and the U15 girls and U18 boys winning the county title.
