A pupil from Felsted Prep has been accepted into the Junior Guildhall School of Music.

Mariella Bromfield, 12, will study percussion following a successful audition last month. She currently performs with the Essex Percussion Group and Felsted’s own Senior School Orchestra and Jazz Band, where she plays the cello and classical guitar.

Mariella said: “I am very excited to be awarded my place at Junior Guildhall, I have been with my family to see concerts there several times and I can’t wait to get started.”

The school has a partnership with the Junior Guildhall that provides an integrated programme with the music department, as well as the opportunity to study in London at the weekend.

Owen Rees, head of music at Felsted Prep, commented: “We are really excited and proud that Mariella has gained a place at Junior Guildhall to study percussion. She is yet another example of a hard-working and high achieving pupil to take advantage of our close partnership with the world renowned Guildhall School of Music and Drama.”
