A driver at Felsted School secured a final win last Sunday at the world-famous Brands Hatch circuit, earning 2nd place in the 2020 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Championship.

Gus, aged 17 from Kelvedon, drove in the final race of his maiden season and won by a clear margin of over 5 seconds in front of a live TV audience.

When questioned by ITV’s Louise Goodman, Gus said: “I am really pleased with my progress this year; 5 wins of 16 podiums from 17 races completed. I am really grateful for the amazing support from my team, Century Motorsport, Sparkle Malawi (his support charity) and APSM (his driver development coaching team). I think today’s win demonstrates the pace we have had all season and I am very satisfied to finish this season on a high note.”

The Felsted pupil is committed to pursuing a professional GT race career and will now consider his options for next season. In the meantime, he plans to switch his focus back to his International Baccalaureate Diploma studies at Felsted Sixth Form.

Gus proudly displayed the Sparkle Foundation charity logos on his car, suit and mask to raise awareness of the plight of vulnerable young children in Malawi, Africa and to promote its Sponsor A Child initiative. The charity was founded by former Felsted pupil Sarah Brook. Gus spent his half term this time last year at the Sparkle School in Malawi to see the completion of classrooms which were built with the help of the funds he has raised from sponsors through his racing.
