There was no need for the fire brigade at the Collegiate Prep on Thursday despite the forest fire in the school grounds! Fires were built and marshmallows were toasted and all was under control as Year 3 children took part in celebrating their new Forest Schools status.

Amba Powell aged 7 said “I think it’s brilliant and I now know how to survive outside in the woods! We are learning so much about nature.”

“I really enjoy being outside and making thinks – I just love it” added Rex Batt, age 7.

Kay Smith, Head of Prep “What a celebration! Introducing ‘Learning Outside the Classroom’ and Forest School activities has not only enlivened the curriculum at the Collegiate Prep but it has also developed the pupils’ understanding and appreciation of the natural world and raised their awareness of the responsibility they have to preserve it. We are committed to becoming a sustainable school and have successfully achieved our Silver Eco Award. Our pupils understand that they will be caretakers of the world in the future.”
