Plucky students at Farringtons School have recently combined fund raising with hair raising by sleeping over in their Farringtons Schoolschool library and reading Susan Hill’s ‘Woman in Black’ in one sitting.

On Friday 25th January, the Year Eleven girls took part in a Readover-Sleepover to raise money for Bromley Renal Unit; this cause is particularly important to the girls as one’s mother is currently undergoing treatment there.

Pizza Express in the Royal Parade kindly provided sustenance which fortified the class for the night of scares ahead.

The book safely read, at around 3:00am ‘The Women in Black’ appeared in the library, but it was in fact Mrs Denman, Head of English, in a torch-lit mask and sleeping-bag styled as a cloak.

Mrs Denman was delighted with the girls’ achievement which has raised in excess of £1000 for this local cause, and said, “We do all we can to promote interest in reading at Farringtons and this proved to be a great way to share a fun reading experience and simultaneously do something to support the local community. I am very proud of the girls’ achievement”.
