Published this week, the ISI Inspection Report for GEMS Sherfield, the co-educational independent school based near Sherfield-on-Loddon, highlighted excellence in a number of key areas throughout the school, including educational standards, personal development and pastoral care plus Early Years Foundation Stage provision.

Additionally the report acknowledges the high quality of teaching and the progress children make, with the emphasis on independent learning, with the school being effective in enabling all children to reach their potential. ‘Excellent support and guidance ensure that pupils achieve the best of which they are capable’.

The Report recognises the ‘excellent’ standards of discipline and behaviour amongst children throughout the School as well as the breadth of extra-curricular activities pupils experience.

The Inspectors noted the success at GCSE and A Level and on the positive start made to the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Executive Principal, Professor Pat Preedy said:
‘From our foundation in 2004 we have matured into an established school with the broad and challenging curriculum we envisaged. A strong team spirit and effective leadership and management deliver our stated educational objectives to our parents expectations. It is very rewarding to have an independent assessment which so positively acknowledges our achievements thus far’.

This inspection followed the standard ISI schedule, an initial two-day inspection of regulatory requirements followed by a three-day final inspection of the school’s broader educational provision by a total of 6 inspectors.
