Jack the Lad and the “Heart Angels” from local radio station Heart FM Sussex and Surrey came to Burgess Hill School for Girls on Tuesday 25th January to show Year 5 pupils how to be Breakfast Radio presenters.

The crew were invited by Year 5 teacher, Miss Charissa Armitage, who applied at the request of two enthusiastic students. Two weeks later, there was a phone call to say that the Radio Station had chosen Burgess Hill School to give the girls the opportunity to take part in a radio broadcast.

Jack “the Lad” presents the Heart Breakfast show with Tom and Lynsay on Heart Sussex and Surrey. He conducted a twenty minute assembly where he answered a variety of questions put to him by the whole of the Junior School; he had both the students and staff in stitches with some of his responses. The girls questioned him on everything from his working hours to his favourite breakfast cereal.

They took on the roles as the anchor, news, weather, travel and showbiz presenters.

Miss Armitage said “The girls had a fantastic day and learned lots at the same time. They all went home excited about listening to their recordings which were put on the Heart FM website early the same evening.”

Burgess Hill School’s staff and pupils would like to thank the Heart FM Sussex and Surrey crew and Jack for a fun-filled, educational experience which gave the whole of the Junior School an insight into the life of a Heart FM Breakfast Radio Presenter.

The girls’ broadcasts are all available to listen to online on the Heart FM website at:
