Late in February ten choirs from Salisbury schools combined to perform the Young Supporters Concert in Salisbury GodolphinCathedral.

Each school performed a number of individual items and then all the choirs combined, under the baton of Mrs Olivia Sparkhall, Deputy Director of Music at Godolphin, to form a Massed Choir which performed The Lord Bless You and Keep You and The Rhythm of Life.

Choirs came from the Alderbury and West Grimstead Primary School, Christ the King Catholic School, Downton Primary School, Godolphin Preparatory School, Godolphin School – Godolphin Vocal Ensemble, Godolphin Voices, The Godolphin Choir – St Osmund’s Catholic Primary School, Whiteparish All Saints CE School and Yarrells Preparatory School.

“It is a privilege to be involved in a project such as this” said Mrs Sparkhall. “There is something extra special about children helping other children”.

Before the concert Mrs Sparkhall visited some of the schools involved and gave workshops which included some of the songs sang at the Cathedral.

All funds raised from the event went to Barnardo’s who are renowned for their work with children.
