go dolphinIf leading the Godolphin First Lacrosse Team to their third National title in four years wasn’t enough, Captain Iona Dryden has been selected to represent Wales at the Senior World Cup in Canada this summer.

She is not only the youngest player in the Welsh team but will be one of the youngest playing at the World Cup across all the teams.

Godolphin first team coach Storm Trentham said, “She may be young but she certainly has not been selected to make up the numbers – that’s for sure.

Iona has the experience of playing in the U19 World Cup in 2011 and for the senior team over the last two years.

She is one of the best players the country has ever produced and I have a feeling she will be hugely talked about in Canada.

Iona is a credit to the school and we are immensely proud of her and wish her the best of luck”.

Former Godolphin pupil Ruby Smith has been selected to represent England at the World Cup and Anna Featherstone is the first reserve.

“It is wonderful to have young players from this small school in Wiltshire, representing their country at a senior level on the world stage” said Storm Trentham.

The Butcher sisters also represented U19 Wales at the Home Internationals scoring the majority of the goals between them.
