On Wednesday the 6th of February a strong team of 16 Godolphin runners competed in the London Schools Go Dolphin Cross CountryCross Country Championships.

The first race was the Junior A girls. This team consisted of five of the girls that ran in the National Teams final in Bolton.

All of our runners were year 8 and the race was a combined year 8 and 9 event. India Weir ran a brilliant race to finish in third place. Kosana Weir ran very strongly to finish in 5th.

The next three Godolphin runners Verity walker, Matilda Ferrand and Reagen Readinger all finished in the top 26 out of over 130 athletes! This gained the team silver medals in the team’s event which is a fantastic effort considering they still have another year left in this grade.

In the Intermediate girls race Izzy Dye and Maddie Turner both started very well and were in the leading bunch. Izzy Dye ran an excellent race and finished strongly to take out second place.

Maddie Turner finished in a very good 6th place. The team finished 4th narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.

The Junior Girls B was up next and all the girls run very good races in the muddy and freezing conditions. Top finisher was Sophia Free who in her first cross country race finished an incredible 9th out of over 100 girls. Sarah Good hart and Rose Barkle both finished in the top 30.

Special congratulations goes to India, Kosana, Izzy and Maddie for being selected to run for the London team in the National Cross Country finals on the 16th of March. We wish them all the best of luck
