London Wasps and Hampshire Collegiate School have formed a partnership, which will see coaching provided from Hampshire Collegaitethe premiership club on a regular basis.

28 U15 team rugby players (Year 10 pupils) from schools across Hampshire, Dorset and Somerset spent the day at HCS.

The squad of boys enjoyed expert coaching from three London Wasps coaches.

After a fitness testing session, the Wasps ran sessions on core skills and unit skills.

The day concluded with a fixture, giving the players an opportunity to express themselves.

Mr Neil Joisce, Head of Boys Games at Hampshire Collegiate School said: “We are proud to be affiliated with the premiership rugby side London Wasps.

From now onwards they will be coaching HCS pupils in preparation for our national and international 7s tournaments, from our U12s through to U18s.”

David Choules, the independent schools officer for London Wasps was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the players on show and is looking forward to working with them and HCS for years to come.

Mr Richard Martin, director of sport at HCS said: “We were delighted to welcome some of the best U15 Rugby players from around the county to a pre-scholarship assessment day with the London Wasp Coaches. We hope that many of these players will join us in the Sixth Form in 2014.

The HCS rugby academy will undoubtedly raise the sporting profile of the school and will drive all sport at HCS, to further success.”

The partnership officially starts in September 2013.
