Four pupils from Harrogate Ladies’ College have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities in Harrogate Ladies College Oxbridge September.

Sophie Ashley and Candice Song have both secured places at Oxford University; Sophie, to read Chinese at Pembroke College and Candice to read Mathematics and Statistics at Christ Church College.

Polly Bowman and Elizabeth Callinan have been offered places at Cambridge University.

Polly has been offered a place at Girton College, to study Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic. Elizabeth
has been awarded an offer from Trinity Hall, to read a new course, Human, Social and Political Sciences.

Elizabeth is following in the footsteps of her elder sister Charlotte (a former HLC girl) who is in her third year at Cambridge reading English.

Harrogate Ladies’ College Principal, Mrs Wilkinson, commented “ These offers represent an excellent achievement for the girls, their families, their teachers and the School. At the same time, we should applaud the other seven Upper Sixth girls who attended Oxford and Cambridge for interviews but were not, sadly, offered places. Gaining an Oxbridge interview is no longer a formality. We are delighted with this year’s Upper Sixth university offers. Girls have already received a significant number from other Russell Group Universities.”
