Harrogate Ladies College Independent School awards 2012HLC is delighted to be the proud recipient of the ‘Education Initiative of the Year Award’ as part of the Independent School Awards 2012.

It was presented by Sir Ranulph Fiennes at the prestigious annual event held at the National Motorcycle Museum on 14 November.

The Award is recognition of the innovative HLC Business School and demonstrates the School’s determination to prepare its pupils for an active part in an increasingly global world.

By involving staff, parents and pupils, along with role models from the commercial sector, Harrogate Ladies’ College has been able to create new links, further endorsing a sense of community.

Girls are able to enjoy the academic study of Economics, Accounting, Business Studies and Psychology in a state of the art business-like environment which helps prepare young women of today for the global world of tomorrow.

The School, with its traditional academic values and modern outlook, has seen increased numbers and Sixth Form retention. Many senior girls set up their own companies and learn to appreciate the importance of successful businesses for the world’s economic health.

Mrs Rhiannon Wilkinson, Principal, commented:

“We are delighted to have received national recognition for our Business School. It has been an enormous success with pupils of all ages and I am sure it will have a huge influence on young minds in the years ahead. Education should be about taking young people out of their comfort zones and introducing them to new areas of experience. The HLC Business School owes much of its success to the Director of the Business School, Mrs Judith Grazier, herself a trained chartered accountant, and many other teachers and parents.”
