Congratulations to Upper Sixth student Kara who is through to the finals of the National Science and Headington School science star karaEngineering Competition.

Kara entered the competition following her placement with the Nuffield Bursary Scheme when she worked at Oxford’s Natural History Museum in 2012.

During her time at the museum Kara researched dung beetle biology and ecology and it is the high standard of her work on this project which impressed the competition’s judging panel.

The judges said her project was chosen as ‘one of the best science and engineering projects in the UK’.

The National Science and Engineering Competition is open to all 11-18 year olds living in the UK and in full-time education. The competition aims to recognise and reward young people's achievements in all areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

We wish Kara the very best of luck at the finals.
