Standout subject History saw a staggering 95% of its students achieve A*. English saw 93% of its grades at A*/A, Art 88% and Maths 77%.
These results also demonstrate the value added to this group of students: over 73% of the girls achieved higher grades than were expected based on national testing that took place at the beginning of Year 10. In IGCSE English the quality of teaching and learning at Headington is most apparent. For several years running, girls have achieved on average one grade higher than predicted at the beginning of Year 10, with a few students achieving an extraordinary three grades higher than predicted.

Happy students

Headmistress Caroline Jordan said: “The girls have worked incredibly hard and we are delighted to see their efforts reflected in these excellent results. Their achievements follow on from fantastic A Level results last week and exceptional IB results in July.

“We are fortunate as an independent school that we can choose the IGCSE which is a consistent exam and one that we have taken here for many years. The IGCSE is a very good preparation for English A Level and in recent years girls following this path have gone on to study English at Oxford and Cambridge.”
Last week Headington’s A Level students also achieved impressive grades, which included over 65% at A* or A. Earlier this summer IB Diploma students enjoyed a record-breaking set of grades, with an average point score of 39.7 and a top individual score of 45 out of 45.
